WARWICK – The R.I. Airport Corp. announced Tuesday that Allegiant Air, a low-fare airline, will provide nonstop flights to Cincinnati, and Fort Myers and Tampa, Fla., from T.F. Green Airport starting in the fall of 2017. All three routes will operate bi-weekly with roundtrip flights. “Today is an exciting day for T. F. Green as we welcome Allegiant Air,” said Warwick city council president Joseph Solomon. “Bringing another low-coast carrier to PVD will be paramount in our continued success for both business and leisure travelers alike.” This is announcement comes on the heels of a few recent T.F. Green route expansions such as the announcement of Frontier Airlines coming to PVD as well as the introduction and expansion of Norwegian Airlines routes. Gov. Gina M Raimondo said that “today’s announcement is more proof that Rhode Island’s economy is on the rise.” “Allegiant could have gone anywhere, but they chose to offer these flights out of Rhode Island. That’s thanks to the fantastic team we have assembled at T. F. Green, our economic development investments and our state’s top-notch quality of life. Rhode Island is a great place to live, work and visit, and these new flights will allow more people to enjoy all we have to offer.” Flights to all three destinations will be offered at a special, introductory, one-way rate through June 8 (this Thursday), of $38. Flights for the two Florida destinations have no fly-by dates, but the price is good for Cincinnati flights only through Feb. 13, 2018. Following the introductory period, one-way tickets will range from $72 to $260 to Cincinnati, $106 to $299 to Fort Myers, and $96 to $289 to Tampa. Tickets may be purchased at the Allegiant website.
