Warwick has a bit of a rebellious streak. As the site of America’s first blow for freedom, Pawtuxet Village hosts the annual Gaspee Days Celebration with multiple events throughout May and June. It was here in 1772 that Rhode Island colonists burned the British revenue schooner, HMS Gaspee, in one of the first acts of defiance that ultimately led to the American Revolution.
